Development of low-cost filters for the treatment of water polluted with food waste leachate

This study investigates the efficacy of conventional and modified bio-sand filters as a low-cost filtering device for treatment groundwater contaminated with food waste leachate. Two kinds materials, areca nut husk water hyacinth stems, have been selected to alter filter. In filters, ashes these wastes are used filter medium. The ashes' physical characteristics, such pH, ash content, moisture measured. leachate polluted purified water, tests total solids, acidity, alkalinity, hardness, chloride turbidity, dissolved oxygen, biological oxygen demand, chemical demand performed. According testing findings, developed efficient in decreasing chloride, demand. same also detected an increase oxygen. this study, might be preliminary system created by recycling plants.
